How to Download an Instagram Carousel Without Missing Slides
A carousel is a collection, not a single file. Learn how to save its available photos and videos and check that your copy tells the whole story.

Can you download all the slides in an Instagram carousel?
You can save the photos and videos that a download tool can retrieve from the post, but you should check the results against the original carousel. A successful lookup does not necessarily mean every slide was returned. A mixed post can include several images and videos, each delivered as a separate file.
This distinction matters when you are saving a tutorial, a product sequence, or your own travel album. The first picture may only introduce the post. Downloading that cover alone can leave out the useful information that follows.
Copy the post link, not the cover image address
Open the carousel in Instagram and use the post’s sharing controls to copy its link. On a desktop, the address of the individual post is also useful. A feed-post URL usually contains /p/ followed by an identifier.
An image address copied from a browser is different: it identifies a particular image file and may expire. A profile URL identifies an account rather than the carousel. Start with the original post URL so the lookup has a chance to find the collection.
Use the carousel tool for a mixed photo and video post
Open the Instagram carousel downloader, paste the post link, and select Download. Review the files that appear before saving them. If the source exposes both still images and videos, use the individual download controls for the items you need.
A photo-only tool can filter out videos. A video-only tool can leave out the still images. Neither result proves that the source post contains only that format. Choosing the carousel tool avoids applying the wrong filter to a mixed post.
Check the slide count and sequence
Compare the returned items with the original post while it is still open. Count the photos and videos separately, and look for obvious gaps in a sequence. For a recipe, for example, the finished dish, ingredients, preparation, and serving steps may all be separate slides.
Do not assume your device will sort downloaded files in the original order. Use a shared filename prefix and a two-digit slide number, such as recipe-01.jpg, recipe-02.mp4, and recipe-03.jpg. If an item is missing, keep its number unused rather than renumbering the remaining files and hiding the gap.
Why a carousel download might return only one image
A public response can expose a cover image without the complete set of slides. Instagram may also restrict an external lookup even when the post opens in your signed-in app. A missing slide is not necessarily a broken link or a mistake on your device.
Confirm that you used the original post URL and the carousel tool. Try a fresh lookup once if the result appears stale. If it is still incomplete, ask the creator for the missing file or use your own original media. Repeatedly downloading the same cover does not recover the rest of the post.
Verify the files before moving them into your library
Open each image at a comfortable viewing size and play each video through to the end. Check the sound if it matters to the post. A thumbnail is not evidence that a video finished downloading.
On an iPhone, browser downloads may be in the Files app rather than Photos. On Android, check your browser’s downloads list or file manager before assuming a file is missing. Save a short note containing the source URL, creator, and permission alongside the collection.
Keep context with the collection
A carousel can rely on its caption or slide order to explain what the images mean. Keep a separate note if that context is useful. Downloading the media does not automatically preserve comments, tagged accounts, or an editable version of the original design.
For your own work, keep the original images and editing projects as the master archive. A downloaded social-media copy is useful for reference, but it may already be compressed. Obtain permission before reusing someone else’s material; keeping the creator’s name is not a substitute for that permission.

Frequently asked questions
Can one Instagram carousel contain photos and videos?
Yes. Review each returned file rather than treating the carousel as a single image or video. Use the carousel tool when you want both formats.
Why did I get fewer files than the original post?
The lookup may receive an incomplete public response, or access to some media may be restricted. Compare the result with the original post and do not treat a cover image as the entire carousel.
Does downloading a carousel preserve its order?
Your file manager may sort by filename or download time. Number the files in the source sequence if you need to preserve the order.
