How to Save Pinterest Images and Check GIF Animation
Check what a Pin actually returns before using a downloaded image in a design, print or animation workflow.

Start with the individual Pin
Copy the public Pin link or its pin.it share link. Use the photo downloader linked below and compare its preview with the Pin. A board URL or image search page does not identify a single media item.
Available source versus original upload
The tool tries a source image and may fall back to a smaller version if the larger file is inaccessible. A path containing originals is not a promise that the file is uncompressed or matches the camera original. Check the file dimensions and appearance; ask the creator for a source file when necessary.
A practical dimension check
Suppose a saved image is 736 × 1104 pixels and your target canvas is 1000 × 1500. Both are 2:3, but filling that canvas enlarges the image by roughly 36 percent in each dimension. No new photographic detail is created. Small type and edges may soften; compare at the intended display size before exporting.
Check whether a GIF is actually animated
Open the downloaded file in a browser and watch it for several seconds. If it is static, compare with the original Pin. A still preview cannot be converted back into the missing animation, and changing a .jpg extension to .gif does not create frames.
Prepare your own image for a vertical Pin
Use the Pin Resizer with an image you own or have permission to reuse. Crop fills the frame by removing edges; padding retains the composition and adds a background. Keep the original file because JPEG export uses lossy compression.
Keep attribution and source information
Save the Pin URL and follow its destination link to identify the original source when possible. A downloadable image is not a reuse license. Confirm permission before publishing someone else’s image or incorporating it into a project.

Frequently asked questions
Does downloading restore a blurry photo?
No. A higher-resolution source may be available, but downloading or enlarging a small file cannot recreate missing detail.
Why did my GIF download as a still image?
The source may expose only a static preview. Check the original Pin and the returned file before expecting animation.
